No Catholic is a member at large of the universal Church. One has to be a member of a ritual Church. This is an ancient principle and practice, that one is baptised into a Church through the ritual of that Church. The ritual is to be used of the Church one is to be ascribed to, for adults, and for infants, from the parent, parents, or guardian, per the canons. If we are claiming to be one church, it shouldn’t make a difference.
It does make a difference because the ritual traditions are a valuable heritage to be preserved, and that includes the Latin Church (one is not better than another).
