Hi, I was just wondering what the differences and distinctions were in the Eastern Catholic ordination celebrations. Are there churches who share common ordination ceremonies? Do churches of the same Rite often celebrate it in a common way? Are there any striking differences in the celebrations?

One of the unique features of the West Syriac usage is that ordinations occur after the Bishop/Chorbishop and concelebrants receive communion. Unlike the Latin Church and others, the newly ordained priest does not concelebrate his ordination liturgy.

Axiomatically, sharing the same rite means sharing the same liturgical praxis; that axiom is stretched very thin in the Alexandrian and Syriac rites.

Ordinations in the Byzantine Rite Churches are pretty much the same across all 50-plus Byzantine Rite Churches (14 in union with Rome, the rest not).

Ordination of a deacon in the Antiochian Orthodox looks just like ordination of a Ruthenian Catholic Deacon - different major traditions, but the liturgy is the same.
