I was wondering if everyone could post pictures of Eastern Catholic Altars and also explain the differences and distinguishing factors they feature. Also pictures of the church hierarchy (Patriarchs/Major Archbishops/ Bishops) pointing out differences and features of vestments.
 
Also, what the Latin Church calls the Altar is called the Holy Table. The Altar refers to the area behind the Iconostasis, what the Latin Church calls the “sanctuary”. 🙂

The hierarchy vestments is hard to enumerate since there are 22 eastern Catholic churches each with variations.

Some of the bishops has crowns style miters others have cloth miters. There are various head coverings:

biretta
kamilavkion
klobuk
– round Chaldean
– point Syro-Malankar

How Nice! I always did like Eastern Vestments, always very colorful! Here’s a few I’d like to share of Major Archbishop Mar George Alencherry.

The “high alter” really should not have been reduced.

We used to have the steps to golgotha, the high alter showing us the presence of heaven
and the alter rail. Sad really

I think the alter rail gave a sense of gateway to the sanctuary and separation from the nave. “Heaven & Earth”

I believe its a great loss.

Here’s a few Syro Malabar Altar Variations. We still use inner and outer altar separations as well as altar veils.

Archimandrites wear crowns like bishops. The bishops’ crowns have a small cross on the top, at least for Russians.

This photo has three bishops, crosses visible atop their crowns, facing the relics of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco for his recent Feastday. Two Archimandrites have their backs to the camera.
