Shlomo,
I know they have to exist! While I am not technically and Eastern Catholic, I would like to be some day. I have been attending the local Maronite parish in Roanoke for about a year now and am in love with Syriac theology and spirituality, even Eastern Christianity in general.
The school I’m planning on going to is Ave Maria University in Florida. Whether or not you know much about them, they are very, very traditional Latin. Which I have no qualms with at all. They even are talking about having an “oriental institute” of some sort there for Eastern Christian studies. It will probably be a while before they do.
Anyway, how did you all fare in that situation? The closest Maronite parish is 2-3 hours away, and any Eastern Catholic parish is 2 hours away to my knowledge. I plan on keeping up with my Ramsho and Safro (Maronite Divine Office) and with my iconography, Prayer Rope and other spiritual reading. Would you Eastern Catholics who went to a Latin shcool offer advice or suggestions on how to stay “Eastern” without coming off as narcissistic or intraverted? I’d be more than happy to share Eastern views on theology and things like that.
Comments and discussion are greatly appreciated!
Alloho minokhoun,
Andrew
