I’m Catholic and my mom is Orthodox, and I decided to get her a cross for her birthday… I ordered an Eastern cross through a church bookstore (Catholic one but they had various Eastern crosses) and it arrived today. Its very nice and has the IC XC NI KA written on it. It looks Eastern but I noticed now it only has one bar. For some reason I thought it had 3 like the others there. Now I’m wondering is it not customary for an Eastern cross to have one bar? Is this ok? Its very Eastern looking in other ways though. Thanks!

Thank you! The one I ordered looks pretty much like the first one. It has the letters too - I like the meaning of them. The center is also outlined with a little design. There’s one bar though.

Yes it is absolutely, completely, 100% acceptable. I promise.

I have a cross from Athens that is the simple 4-limbed version.

So I’m sure yours is OK.
