Though I voted “no;” I think that the Orthodox posters here can post where ever they like.
I think many people still welcome you, so, keep reading and posting. Otherwise, people here will never know what you have to say!NO, we don’t!
The Orthodox-Catholic dialogue is important, specific and active enough for its own forum, as was amply demonstrated.
Somehow, as an EO, I don’t feel like I’m still welcome at CAF…![]()
I disagree that RCs feel threatened by the Eastern. If they were, they would be celebrating the changes that were made to the forums but as you can see the vast majority of Latin Catholics want the Eastern Christianity Forum back. Why do RCs feel so threatened by the Eastern ooooh I wonder if the few Orientals are included in this hybrid Non-catholic Forum] ?
I think the real reason for this change is that CAF at present doesn’t feel that they have the ability to sufficiently moderate the quantity and kind of discussion that the Eastern Christianity forum was generating at the same time as trying to provide a forum specifically for Eastern Catholics. Their responses to suggestions made (at the Suggestion Box forum) that there should be an EO sub-forum have basically been, “Thanks for the suggestion – we don’t have the resources to moderate any additional forums right now”.I disagree that RCs feel threatened by the Eastern. I very much doubt the move was intended as a slight to EOOOs or to Eastern Catholics. I haven’t voted, however, because I am conflicted on this issue. I used to be quite active on the EO forum, but eventually withdrew due to lack of time (and some frustration at the deeply ingrained anti-Catholicism that seemed to infuse the majority, albeit far from all, of the Orthodox contributions).I think the real reason for this change is that CAF at present doesn’t feel that they have the ability to sufficiently moderate the quantity and kind of discussion that the Eastern Christianity forum was generating at the same time as trying to provide a forum specifically for Eastern Catholics. They aren’t. Dominus Iesus makes that perfectly clearA church that has valid sacraments should not be lumped in with ecclesial communities that do not have valid sacraments
This one is false also.or with religions that are not even Christian.
This describes my experience as well.i stopped reading the eastern christianity forum because it was so depressingly one-sided. i felt all the ecumenism was on the catholic (RC) side. the orthodox there were intimidating and hostile to catholicism, my spiritual home and to the pope, our holy father.
on the other hand, that’s reality. it was a rude awakening but i’m glad i’m no longer looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.
See this thread. Orthodox sacraments are valid. They aren’t. Dominus Iesus makes that perfectly clear
This one is false also.

Where in the world did you get that idea? Are you saying that Orthodox are not Christian? Would you say that Orthodox and Protestants are the same as Muslims or Buddhists?
Yes. I didn’t know how to break up your quotes, quoting my quotes. I do not feel that Orthodox belong in the same forum as non-Christians, such as Muslims. Neither do Protestants. I would like to see subforums in Non-Catholic Religions: one for Orthodox, one for Protestant, and one for non-Christian.Where in the world did you get that idea?
I posted Dominus Iesus. Did you read it?

- Therefore, there exists a single Church of Christ, which subsists in the Catholic Church, governed by the Successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him.58 The Churches which, while not existing in perfect communion with the Catholic Church, remain united to her by means of the closest bonds, that is, by apostolic succession and a valid Eucharist, are true particular Churches.59 Therefore, the Church of Christ is present and operative also in these Churches, even though they lack full communion with the Catholic Church, since they do not accept the Catholic doctrine of the Primacy, which, according to the will of God, the Bishop of Rome objectively has and exercises over the entire Church.
Then you’ll be having the same fight over the JWs, Mormons, certain Pentecostals and Salvation Army adherents whose baptisms (or lack thereof) make them non-Christians according to Catholic doctrine while they say they are Christians.I would like to see subforums in Non-Catholic Religions: one for Orthodox, one for Protestant, and one for non-Christian.
That one is easy. No Trinitarian Baptism = non-Christian.Then you’ll be having the same fight over the JWs, Mormons, certain Pentecostals and Salvation Army adherents whose baptisms (or lack thereof) make them non-Christians according to Catholic doctrine while they say they are Christians.
Well, some would say it is just as easy to say no communion with Rome = non-Catholic as it is to tell a Mormon their trinitarian baptism doesn’t intend the same thing as the Church’s baptism so it isn’t recognized and they are therefore non-Christian despite their insistence to the contrary. And I’d like to see the response some Pentecostalist would have being told her baptism in the “name of Jesus” makes her a non-Christian!That one is easy. No Trinitarian Baptism = non-Christian.
The problem is when people have a particular area that they are interested in. Someone who wants to participate in threads about Orthodoxy may not wish to scroll down past all the thread about Muslims. Another person may wish to participate in threads about Protestants, and may find it to be a chore scrolling down past all the threads about Orthodoxy. Not all posters are interested in threads about all non-Catholic religions. There should be a way to separate the types of non-Catholic religions.Lets just tag Eastern Orthodox threads with the title: Non-Catholic Byzantiumism.
Really people, putting all non-catholics in the non-Catholic Forum makes perfect sense. Simple logic.
