In Russia, non-believers call themselves 49% of young people. Only 4% of young Russians regularly go to Church, while 37% - do not go there at all. 14% of Russians pray regularly, while 46% do not pray ever. (According to research “Europe’s young adults and religion”)
In General, in Europe, the trend of religious youth is not optimistic, some sociologists believe that religion will disappear in the next 100 years (Communists believed the same) but what I want to emphasize is that in many European countries and the EU countries, the religiosity of young people is much higher than in Russia.
In Balkan countries, in Baltic countries, in Ukraine, religiosity of youth is higher.
Whence then the demonization of Europe by Russia as “Gayrope”?
And if you compare the statistics of social vices such as abortion, debauchery, alcoholism, abandoned children, child abuse, violence against women, drug addiction…
And I think , one should not forget that the human rights, justice, the rule of law, the economic well-being of the people, the protection of the person before the law, all this is also relevant to spirituality.
It seems that the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church should be more care of their own garden and not to throw stones of accusation in someone else’s garden.
