check out the videos on youtube by Fr.Thomas Hopko. One of his videos is on why the EO will PROBABLY not reunite soon with the Roman Church. The last serious discussion according to him was in the 14th or 15th century.
but aside from the controversies, his remarks on the Bible, esp sermon on the mount are very interesting. Be prepared for non-Catholic views as they come up.
He mentions that St Paul doesn’t mention the name of Jesus mother because he probably never met her. He also makes the general comment/observation that Paul never mentions any of Jesus’s teachings.
In the first video about the sermon, he also references a writing of Irenaeus that uses OT references exclusively to explain Christianity.
