I remember reading a book called “The art of prayer: an orthodox anthology” and in it the author said that orthodox believes that in prayer one should suppress all imagination. In fact there were chapters titled “War on imagination”. Is this true? If so how do Orthodox pray and what’s the origin of this practice?

I’d also like to ask about confession. Is Eastern Orthodox confession similar to the Catholic confession? Or is it similar?
