In conclusion: to ask about God’s omnipotence requires a very clear realization of first what we mean by omnipotence and second what is part of and what detracts from omnipotence.
Well I believe several of us have tried to weed out the false ideas of omnipotence. Especially on the supposed “power to sin”.
Very true. It just seemed that the OP was not quite sold on why that is necessary.

is god omnipotent in every sense of the word? more specifically, would he be able to reverse his own moral code, say , to make the murder of children a virtue?
Erasmus argued we can’t know everything about God, and shouldn’t try. Luther argued that yes…we can understand everything about God by reading the Bible. Luther called the good things that happen in the world God’s ‘proper acts’, and the bad things, such as genocide and infanticide, God’s ‘improper acts’. Yes…he believed God killed children and perpetrated many other horrible acts, all of which fell under the rubric of *GOD’S IMPROPER ACTS. * I think it’s plain to see why present-day Lutherans are embarrassed of their founder. He was a bit of a nut-job.

A bit?

More like posessed though.

God can do what ever he wants. And what he chooses or doesn’t choose to do is up to him.
