Can anyone tell me what you think ~ i told my priest that i didn’t think there would be a church (catholic) in 25 years and he said i’m afraid you might be right.

Two state senators wanted to make it so a church council appointed by the state could make decisions about what happens inside the curches in ct

thank god 5,000 people went to the state capital to protest this but the sentiment is there to ruin the church ???

I don’t know ???

Jesus said his Church would be “the light of the world.” He then noted that “a city set on a hill cannot be hid” (Matt. 5:14). This means his Church is a visible organization. It must have characteristics that clearly identify it and that distinguish it from other churches. Jesus promised, “I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). This means that his Church will never be destroyed and will never fall away from him. His Church will survive until his return.

The Church will survive in the world. Whether it will survive in this or that country is the question. Note that auxiliary bishops are assigned titular dioceses; that is they are bishops of dioceses that were once flourishing but now exist in name only. When our bishop retired a few years ago he was assigned a titular diocese. He commented that he hoped Los Angeles, Boston etc would not become titular dioceses one day.

This is a misrepesentation of the proposed bill, which deservedly died. There would NOT be a church council appointed by the state.
 
The Church was pre-figured in the Old Testament by the Ark of Noah, which rode the raging waters and the storms and found peace at last.

What this whole thing sounds like to me is some politicians in Hartford had a hard time with the filter between the brain & the mouth & vocalized something that really shouldn’t have been implied. Church and state, having a state rep. in there making decisions, I mean, I know the separation of church and state is IMPLIED, but what needs to happen (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION) is to bug congress & the senate to actually put INTO THE CONSTITUTION the illegality & immorality of COMBINING the state & the church & forbidding theocracy altogether. The sep. of CH. & ST. is NOT in the constitution. I’m not sure if anyone knows this or not…

I would recommend finding a Bible course online. I think Catholic Distance Learning University of America (or something like that) offers one.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. Amendment I. The courts have consistently interpreted this as separation of Church and State. I am not familiar with this controversy in CT but I cannot see how any oversight by the state of church activities could be constitutional.
 
The Catholic Church has survived worse than this in the last last 2000 years; She will prevail until the end of the time. :knight1:
 
The bill is simply a reminder that any fool idiot can be elected to a seat in government. That should come as no surprise to anyone; nor should some of the fioolishness they produce be any surprise. Those who are upset by such antics are too often not a whole lot more educted that the people proposing the bills. Most such foolishness dies in committee; should the committee collectively not have the sense God gave a sick goose, it will die in chamber. Only the more artfully crafted bills survive that; and they are subject to judicial review, and at times depending on the jurisdiction, subject to laws submitted directly to the voters.

So the system is generally set up in such a way that such foolishness gets nowhere. The system is not perfect, as shown by the Oregon right to suicide law, and the multiplication of laws attempting to grant to homosexuals “rights” that God did not grant them.

Yes, the Church will prevail through the guidance of God, and no man nor men will ever destroy her. The Church will continue to grow in holiness until the end of time.
