You’re referring to the fact that Peter was confused about the meaning of the dream, then later realized God was telling him that “God has no favourites, but that anybody of any nationality who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” Thus he knew that all nations were to be baptized and brought to the Lord.
.
Peter was part of a Jewish sect that forbid him from speaking to non-Jews. Unclean means impure or forbidden. Basically unkosher. Declaring God’s creation, another human being as unclean, is not something man is allowed to do. Only God decides what is unclean or not. Since God never goes back on his word or cancels commandments, Peter knew he couldnt be talking about food. This is why he was confused about the message afterwards. But God is so infantly superior (see Our Lady of Guadalupe which is the most slept on miracle in all of religious history), He knew how to ‘influence’ these verses where only few would heed these teachings. I think he meant it to be like this. To be more in communion with God, you have to be able to understand the teachings correctly.
I have two smokers and used to make cold smoke my own bacon. That bacon would go on pizza and in pasta alfredo. I lost all of that. I remember I had 2 McDonalds Sausage and egg mcmuffins in the fridge and had to throw them out. I had sausages in the fridge and threw them all out because I knew that God was watching.
Few people will hear His teaching in its fullness, but if you understood that passage on your own, then you did much better than most people including myself. If you were able to get the deeper meaning on your own, than this is a gift you’ve been given. But these come with expectations from God because he knows you have these gifts and is watching you.
How about Mark 7:1-15. Jesus tells us that it isn’t what goes into our bodies that defiles us.
That is an excellent story of Jesus which really shows the genious of Jesus and God. Theres tons of wisdom in that story. God planted that in the bible to create a division between the Jews and Christians (a necessary division, not a bad one). He didnt want us taking up certain things the Jews did in my opinion. The fallacy however comes in believing Jesus broke the Law which is laughable. The secret is modern common erra Jews through history have continually refered back to Jesus stance on things because Jesus often broke open loopholes and stated contradicitions. Jews interpret Jesus completely different than us.
Suppose God says food is unkosher. If you eat the food does that make YOU unkosher?
Suppose you don’t know if the food you’re eating is kosher. Does doing a ritual hand washing of hands then make the meat kosher?
Well guess what. Washing of hands at the time was OPTIONAL as stated in the oral Law back then. Do you know why? Because washing hands with holy water in order to cleanse something else could be considered an act of SORCERY and was completely not allowed. The 1st century Rabbi’s verify this. The Pagans were heavy into these sort of rituals. So Jesus was so pius and righteous understanding the full letter of the law, that he excersized the right not to wash hands and furthermore became more righteous because ritual washing of hands in order to make other items kosher is indeed an act of sorcery that shouldnt be practiced. Today its seen as a custom, but back then they were doing it multiple times between courses which is sorcery. If the food is not kosher, then its not kosher.
And I must ask, since you’re so concerned about eating pork, do you also have the same proscriptions about lobster, clams, crab? How about cheeseburgers? Is the meat you eat prepared by a kosher butcher? All dietary rules set by God for the Jewish people.
I dont eat any shellfish etc either.
The cheesburger? I eat that sure. Where does it say that I cant mix dairy and meat? Go research you wont believe what you’ll find. You’ll get a good laugh.
