Laughable.

I heavily reasearched both claims and stopped eating pork and shellfish a while back. Any attempt to rationalize the evidence is simply someone who twists scripture to fit their fleshly desires. They are reasoning with their emotions rather than their heart. They look for something half convincing then shut the bible and go home.

A direct commandment from God i cant ignore because he knows that i know the Truth so his expectations are instantly higher for me at that point. Those who are ignorant have lower expectations. But those who are willingly ignorant, tsk. Tsk… I wonder how much pork is served up at the Vatican or if the Pope eats pork.

One thing your not allowed to do is claim that your better than someone else because of their diet so Im not saying im better than anyone else. I eat lots of other bad food.
You say my response is laughable, but it seems to me you came here in a form to attack, even saying I wonder how they serve pork in the Vatican, you seem like one of those persons whom just likes to stir up trouble, but I’ll give you bible verses.

Romans 14:3-4 Paul says to eat anything
Romans 14:13-20 Paul says that food is not cause for division as Christ does not cause division.
1 Corinthians 10:25-27 eat whatever is sold at the supermarket
Colossians 2:16-17 do not criticize anybody for what they eat.

I don’t think my answer was laughable on the contrary I had the facts to back it up.

You’re referring to the fact that Peter was confused about the meaning of the dream, then later realized God was telling him that “God has no favourites, but that anybody of any nationality who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” Thus he knew that all nations were to be baptized and brought to the Lord.
.
Peter was part of a Jewish sect that forbid him from speaking to non-Jews. Unclean means impure or forbidden. Basically unkosher. Declaring God’s creation, another human being as unclean, is not something man is allowed to do. Only God decides what is unclean or not. Since God never goes back on his word or cancels commandments, Peter knew he couldnt be talking about food. This is why he was confused about the message afterwards. But God is so infantly superior (see Our Lady of Guadalupe which is the most slept on miracle in all of religious history), He knew how to ‘influence’ these verses where only few would heed these teachings. I think he meant it to be like this. To be more in communion with God, you have to be able to understand the teachings correctly.

I have two smokers and used to make cold smoke my own bacon. That bacon would go on pizza and in pasta alfredo. I lost all of that. I remember I had 2 McDonalds Sausage and egg mcmuffins in the fridge and had to throw them out. I had sausages in the fridge and threw them all out because I knew that God was watching.

Few people will hear His teaching in its fullness, but if you understood that passage on your own, then you did much better than most people including myself. If you were able to get the deeper meaning on your own, than this is a gift you’ve been given. But these come with expectations from God because he knows you have these gifts and is watching you.
How about Mark 7:1-15. Jesus tells us that it isn’t what goes into our bodies that defiles us.
That is an excellent story of Jesus which really shows the genious of Jesus and God. Theres tons of wisdom in that story. God planted that in the bible to create a division between the Jews and Christians (a necessary division, not a bad one). He didnt want us taking up certain things the Jews did in my opinion. The fallacy however comes in believing Jesus broke the Law which is laughable. The secret is modern common erra Jews through history have continually refered back to Jesus stance on things because Jesus often broke open loopholes and stated contradicitions. Jews interpret Jesus completely different than us.

Suppose God says food is unkosher. If you eat the food does that make YOU unkosher?

Suppose you don’t know if the food you’re eating is kosher. Does doing a ritual hand washing of hands then make the meat kosher?

Well guess what. Washing of hands at the time was OPTIONAL as stated in the oral Law back then. Do you know why? Because washing hands with holy water in order to cleanse something else could be considered an act of SORCERY and was completely not allowed. The 1st century Rabbi’s verify this. The Pagans were heavy into these sort of rituals. So Jesus was so pius and righteous understanding the full letter of the law, that he excersized the right not to wash hands and furthermore became more righteous because ritual washing of hands in order to make other items kosher is indeed an act of sorcery that shouldnt be practiced. Today its seen as a custom, but back then they were doing it multiple times between courses which is sorcery. If the food is not kosher, then its not kosher.
And I must ask, since you’re so concerned about eating pork, do you also have the same proscriptions about lobster, clams, crab? How about cheeseburgers? Is the meat you eat prepared by a kosher butcher? All dietary rules set by God for the Jewish people.
I dont eat any shellfish etc either.

The cheesburger? I eat that sure. Where does it say that I cant mix dairy and meat? Go research you wont believe what you’ll find. You’ll get a good laugh.

Paul was writing letters to people who did not have temples in order to make meat kosher.

Much of the food issues where about vegitariansim though. People though they could not eat meat to resolve this issue.

Regardless, till this day Jews and Muslims are allowed to break dietary law if travelling and kosher food is not available. It’s not what goes in you that makes you unclean so dont worry about it. No one is better than anyone else. But God is watching and he knows if i know better.

In todays end times we have been given a HUGE discount in law. The pig unfortunately is not on that list. Neither is Shrimps… I dont even bother going to all you can eat Sushi anymore because i cant have shrimp and pork 😦

A funny side note is there is actually a train of thought from certain theologans in all three religions that you MUST eat meat. This goes back to Adam and Eve. People who dont eat meat… Hmm… I never trusted a person that didnt eat meat.

While we’re on the topic of meat, i just wanted to state that i like greek chicken Souvlaki with those potatoes in tomatoe sauce… And they give the yogurt stuff to dip the souvlaki in. It’s really good.

Now i use beef pepperoni, chicken/beef hot dogs, and chicken bacon which is amazingly accurate compared to years back. It also yields a lot and goes well in sandwiches.

Meat isn’t made kosher in a temple. Think about it – contemporary Jews, worldwide, keep to the dietary laws of the Mosaic covenant… and there’s no temple.

So, no, it’s erroneous to assert that Paul’s statements were aimed at people who were unable to keep kosher regulations… 😉

Laughing… I love it… Please do continue on with the next verse lol…
Psst… you would do well to “continue on”, too! Keep reading, through at least Acts 11:3; there, Jewish Christians from Jerusalem confront Peter because he ate with the uncircumsized. Now, think about it: are you really saying that the issue is the company and not the menu? After all, for that to stick, you’d have to be asserting that the Gentiles kept a kosher table, such that Peter ate with them but didn’t eat unkosher food. That, my friend, is what’s laughable. No, Peter clearly ate with Gentiles – and he ate food that was not kosher.
Do more research if you want the truth of the verse. God never goes back on his Word.
What an odd statement that is! After all… God’s word was that Jews should not come into contact with Gentiles, especially at table. But, according to your assertion, what this vision meant was that Jews could eat with Gentiles. Now… if what you’re saying is true, then it seems that you’re asserting that God went back on His word:hmmm:

Like us, the Jews get a huge discount in commandments. They only need to keep 35 of the 613 commandments because there is no temple.

The Jews ‘burden’ is there Oral Torah which we don’t follow. Jesus did follow these though, but he wasnt a Christian. As Christians we fall under his rabinical authority of Jesus. He protected the origional law like no one else. Till this day even old Rabbi’s read what Jesus did and it was so rightious it even slips past them. Handwashing is a good example. Few people know the truth of that story. Only the top Rabbi’s later realized his genius.

The kosher meat… No sorry… The Judaism that you see today is a different type than that of those times. Almost everything is different except for the Torah which always lasts.

The Oral Torah rules are different for the sect your in. Jesus was a Pharisee in my opinion and extremely high ranking. St Paul and Peter were also extremely high ranking too. Look at the council of Nicea as proof. See who makes the ruling and excersizes authority.

After Jesus is put in the tomb they go in and find his shroud. It gets passed around as a secret relec. Now the latest news is that the image in it must have been from an X-RAY TYPE LIGHT!!! WOW!! THIS IS VERY REAL AND NOT FABLES TRUST ME!!!

Could God have beamed mother Mary back up also? Of course. There was an incident where a protester was shot dead by a sniper in Syria on the street. So people ran and took cover. This was during a protest. Then all of a sudden an apperition appears and he walks slowely over to the dead guy. The guys yels in arabic ‘a ghost!!, aghost!!’. the guy pics up up the man estimated at 80kg with one arm while he’s lime. People start to FREAK OUT. Then the whitnesses in interviews after said he vanished. This was God letting the snipers know that it was not OK to kill innocent life and fire into the crowd like that. The snipers likely freaked out also and stopped that behaviour because they do have the fear of Allah in them.

Cackles, you said you interpreted scriptures for yourself and came up with these ideas. We, as Catholics, follow the teachings of our Church, which has been studying these scriptures for over 2000 years. I’d sooner trust her interpretations than yours.

To the OP (if you’re still following this) there is no longer an proscription against eating pork or shellfish or any other dietary laws described in the Old Testament.

There might not be any commandment prohibiting the eating of pork in the NT, but if people knew the truth about the pork industry in the US, they would stop eating pork altogether. I’ve stopped eating it, and that includes bacon, which has somehow attained god-like status in this country. 😦
