I’m reading through Exodus and came across this sublime verse spoken by God to Moses, and thought I would point it out.

They shall eat those things with which atonement was made, to ordain and consecrate them, but an outsider shall not eat of them, because they are holy. (Exodus 29:33)

Nothing spectacular to say. No amazing insight according to Tim. Scripture speaks for itself. As a Catholic this makes perfect sense. We still eat the thing with which atonement was made. 🙂

When I talk to children about the Holy Eucharist, I start with the Fall and proceed to the first Passover and the command to eat the sacrifice, gloss a bit over the Levitical sacrifices (attention span, you know) and then to Jesus as the Paschal Lamb.

They usually get it.😉

I came across this Scripture today that touched me…

(Ecclesiasticus 24: 19-23)

“Come to me, you who desire me, and eat your fill of my produce. For the remembrance of me is sweeter than honey, and my inheritance sweeter than the honeycomb. Those who eat me will hunger for more, and those who drink me will thirst for more. Whoever obeys me will not be put to shame, and those who work with my help will not sin.”

I love Scripture too! 🙂
 
Nice find! I’ll have to remember that one for my catechism class.
 
It truly is amazing that Books written by people centuries apart weave into a spiritually seamless combination. Christ, the Blessed Virgin and the Sacrament are each prefigured in the Old Testament. Deo gratias for every verse!
