Eating "halal" meat?

I know that this forum does not allow personal attacks, and I certainly do not intend this to be one.

I urge the poster who made the accusation to have the integrity to retract it here for all to see.

For someone to choose a screen name that makes a religious statement and then post slanderous allegations under that name is really quite shameful.

I do believe though that no one makes big without some shady afiliations to say the least.

Masonry, bribery, drugs, satanism, etc. You name it.

Hi all.

Lots of great discussions and thoughts contributing to the topic, but no-one has clearly answered whether or not as a Catholic I could eat Halal food! Plenty why I should or shouldn’t, but is it lawful?
Firstly, what does it mean to a Muslem for a Christian to eat Halal. I wouldn’t want to do it if it is considered offensive, or that it means that I am implicitly supportive of their cause, or if it is considered as a loss of self worth or something.
Secondly, the Halal process: is it considered as a sacrifical offering to (a) god/God. If so it would be offensive to God, which is not what I want do to (God forbid!) I would like to know what the intent of the Halal process is: intent is fundamental to the eucharist, is it required in Halal.

Muslims worship no God but the God of Abraham, that is not in dispute and the Catholic Church has affirmed that throughout Islam’s history.

No, it is not any sort of sacrifice, only, as with kosher meat processing by Jewish butchers, an affirmation that certain standards of sanitation have been observed.

Lets show some respect here. Claiming the Muslims worship an idol is not fair. Its like telling your half brother not to use your dads name as his surname.
Muslims worship the same God as we do. Do not forget the blessing giving to Ismael and Jacob. If God said he would be with Ishmael as well why would he let him go astray?
We all worship the same God. Our understanding of him may differ.
Our Lord said this, he who is not against me is for me. The Quran mentions Jesus and our holy mother more than it mentions the prophet Mohammed, Talks about the same virgin birth.

Jesus says this in the Quran:
19:33 And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive. (This means the Quran believes in the same death and resurrection).

The issue with our church is we think we know it all. I remember in the 1600’s when the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (just as old as our mother Church and founded by Mark) wanted to come under Rome. Rome sent a Jesuit priest who was more interested in the orthodox switching to Latin instead of honoring their native Ge’ez. This lead to revolt.
Lets all respect the views of others who serve our father.
Muslims do NOT worship Idols they worship the one true God. We should celebrate and sympathize with them as well. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH EATING HALAL.
