I said that I would finish some food when I was full. Since I was full, would finishing it be a sin of gluttony? The food would be saved to be eaten later if not eaten immediately. What do you guys think?

Thanks a lot

No it is not the sin of gluttony.

If you tend to think you are sinning at every turn, you need to be under the care of a priest trained to deal with your situation. Please talk to your priest.

Thanks for the response. I guess I will have to think about doing that.

God Bless

Agreed, this is a classic dilema that a scrupulous person would encounter. Your best bet is to get a trusted spiritual director who can guide you if you find that you are encountering these sorts of dilemmas regularly.

While over-eating and breaking a committment could be seen as sinful using a strict interpretation of the law, you also have to consider the relative gravity of these acts. I can’t see how either decision that you could have made in this situation would have been anything worth worrying about.
