There is no one Eastern Liturgical Calendar. Each sui juris will have their own and even within a sui juris it will vary differently. For example, the UGCC follows the Julian Calendar, although in some parishes in North America they have started to follow the Gregorian Calendar. Then the commemoration of Saints for each day is different from Church to Church.

This page might be of assistance if you’re looking for the Byzantine Rite’s calendar as it’s used in most Catholic eparchies in the United States.

I think the one on ByzCath is for the Ruthenians in the US. I notice on some Sundays the readings on the site is different from what we use in our parish.

On a related note, you may also want to be aware of the typicon/typikon, which will help you follow the Daily Readings. As above, it varies per church/eparchy.

:doh2:😊 Mis: Open mouth, display ig’nance!

Constantine and Fone have pointed me in the closest direction – Splag has also pointed me to an invaluable resource.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a missal.

Would someone care to help me put together a calendar of feasts, fasts, solemnities, liturgical colors? I suppose I should add the readings, too (based off of Fone Bone’s link Byzantine Rite’s 2012 Calendar).

I can start to cobble something together in MS Word, and then would y’all jump in with additions / corrections / suggestions?

While I have never studied the Ukrainian Typikon and I take your word of course, I was surprised by your observation as I always thought that we (Ruthenians and Ukrianians and others following “Slav usage”) were in sync on the cycle of readings. Could it be that the Lectionary on the byzcath.org site is based on the Common Typikon only and does not reflect other readings that might be prescribed on a given day where multiple feasts occur, based on the civil calendar?

To be honest, I’ve gotten so used to using the annual church calendar (normally sponsored and partially funded by our local funeral homes) and the diocesan newspaper and as “crutches” that I haven’t studied the various Typika in awhile …

Oh, I stand corrected, then. I had assumed it generally applied to Byzantine Rite Catholic eparchies in the United States, but I guess you’re right - it’s for the Byzantine Catholic Church in America. 🙂
