Show me an example of a Catholic take one of the ECF out of context. If there is anyone doing what you claim it is YOU. Just about each and every quote you have taken has been out of context, and if anything I’d say you got it from an anti-Catholic website.Sure I have, my point is this… you guys use ECF’s to make a case and that is dishonest because in most cases you take their words out of context, an argument can be made that some of their theology is closer to protestant than Roman Cath.
That in mind you should read through my post again
My thoughts exactly.Have you ever read the Church Fathers or are you just copying and pasting from anti-Catholic websites? Becuase if you did read the Church Fathers, you can overwhemlingly see they are Catholic, period.
If you like to read, here is the 38 volume set I was referring to earlier - it’s now 82% off!!!… as their are many who know auggie better than I.

I already have at least twice (on the first page of this thread) then you replied by repeating yourself only with BIGGER font.If you wish to accuse me of taking things out of context, show me.
Yes read the retractions, then you’ll quit quoting him.But hey look, we must be seriously taking those out of context, right???:nope:
Firstly, friend, the beginning of discourse begins withElsewhere, Augustine denies that there is any bodily presence of Christ in the church today:
“It may be also understood in this way: ‘The poor ye will have always with you, but me ye will not have always.’ The good may take it also as addressed to themselves, but not so as to be any source of anxiety; for He was speaking of His bodily presence. For in respect of His majesty, His providence, His ineffable and invisible grace, His own words are fulfilled, ‘Lo, I am with you alway, even to the end of the world.’ But in respect of the flesh He assumed as the Word, in respect of that which He was as the son of the Virgin, of that wherein He was seized by the Jews, nailed to the tree, let down from the cross, enveloped in a shroud, laid in the sepulchre, and manifested in His resurrection, ‘ye will not have Him always.’ And why? Because in respect of His bodily presence He associated for forty days with His disciples, and then, having brought them forth for the purpose of beholding and not of following Him, He ascended into heaven and is no longer here. He is there, indeed, sitting at the right hand of the Father; and He is here also, having never withdrawn the presence of His glory. In other words, in respect of His divine presence we always have Christ; in respect of His presence in the flesh it was rightly said to the disciples, ‘Me ye will not have always.’ In this respect the Church enjoyed His presence only for a few days: now it possesses Him by faith, without seeing Him with the eyes.” (Lectures on the Gospel of John, 50:13)
meaning this is another description of the truth and some descriptions are better than others. It may be also understood in this way
This is exactly what we believe. Mass, Divine Liturgy, is Heaven on Earth, since Christ is substantially present in the EucharistHe is there, indeed, sitting at the right hand of the Father; and He is here also, having never withdrawn the presence of His glory.
Do you know how perfect this fits into Catholic doctrine?…now it possesses Him by faith, without seeing Him with the eyes.
There are not over a hundred people…who hate the Roman Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church"
I have accepted Christ body and blood, though not in the form of a wafer and a sip of wine, but that my friend is a different thread.Do you think you will see Jesus WITH YOUR EYES in the Eucharist?
Are you saying the priest himself doesn’t mystically perform the changing of bread to actual body? its by your faith? It takes faith! Which is what St. Augustine is saying. If you saw Jesus with your physical eyes (not spiritual) the Second Coming would have already taken place.
H-mary, I have read Auggie. Have you?You and I both know that if YOU read his works, you would not arrive at this conclusion. You need the help of commentators that already have made their mind up for what the Church believes.
