What did the Fatima witnesses use to protect their eyes while they looked at he sun?

Yes…it was a miracle. Let’s hope no one here will read this and think if they are holy enough they don’t need the glasses!

I’ve ordered mine already.

Nothing; looking at the sun without protection was part of the miracle.
For real? Mary told them to look at the sun without fear of damaging their eyes? Can you cite a source on that? Is there some Vatican document that includes lack of damage to eyesight from looking at the sun? Or is this your opinion?

It was a miracle.

The Solar Eclipse Is NOT a miracle

They had to look at the sun. If looking at the sun without damaging their eyes is a miracle wouldn’t that be noted somewhere? Did Mary tell them “Go ahead and look at the sun. Oh, and by the way God will make it so that you don’t have to wear any protective eyewear.” Wouldn’t the Vatican investigators have written that down somewhere?

I wasn’t (and I don’t think any one else was either) saying this coming eclipse was a miracle. How did you jump to that?

Robert, it was noted by 70 thousand people. They all looked at the sun spinning and then moving close to earth. Many ran in fear.
Did Our Blessed Virgin really have to do more then point. No. Because there is no deception.

Don’t compare an eclipse with a miracle. If God wants to give us a miracle that involves everyone standing on the sun, we won’t burn. Remember the miracle of walking on water.

You headed this as eclipse glasses and Fatima. The Miracle of the Sun was not an eclipse.

An eclipse has NOTHING to do with Fatima, why are you trying to tie them together??? God Bless, Memaw

No one ever said Fatima was an eclipse. No sure how you are jumping to be hat conclusion.

Staring at the sun is dangerous. We are hearing that over and over now with the upcoming eclipse. Did people in 1917 not know it was dangerous to stare into the sun? Is it possible that maybe some of things they saw were a result staring into the sun?

You really need to learn more about the Miracle at Fatima… Go on the Blue Army.com site to learn. At least 70,000 people saw that Miracle… God Bless, Memaw

there doesn’t seem to have been an eclipse over portugal during this time frame that i could find documented so staring at an eclipse would not have been a concern prior to the event

yup, skeptics claim that the optical effects of the sun was caused by staring at the sun unprotected.

i do know i can’t stare at the sun long enough to reproduce such effects. ymmv! don’t try this at home …but if you do report back what you see.

Skeptics come up with all kinds of reasons not to believe a miracle. Over 70,000 people witnessed it and even the newspaper reported it. God Bless, Memaw

Yes starting at the sun is dangerous and also the eclipse but NOT a Miracle. Not sure why anyone would compare “The Miracle of the Sun” at Fatima with a natural event like an eclipse. I didn’t “jump” to that conclusion, but this thread seems to be trying to do that. No it is not possible that some of the things they saw was just from looking at the sun. The ONLY reason they could even look at the sun long enough to see anything was because of the miracle. Look at that picture someone posted and see how intent they were looking at the sun. Couldn’t do that any other time that’s for sure. And also explain to me how everything dried up instantly when the Miracle was over and even their muddy clothes were clean and dry after walking in the rain and mud for hours. Was that from staring at the sun too. God Bless, Memaw
