Eclipse = Jesus second coming?

As some of you may know, I have been struggling with my faith for sometime. With all the lunar eclipses that are suppose to occur, and the one we got last night, so many people have pulled bible verses saying this is the end that jesus is coming soon.

Im not going to lie, it scares me. I know i have work to do on myself… Do many of you believe this to be true?

I don’t understand why this would scare you. Lunar and solar eclipses are natural phenomenon, totally predictable, and why anyone thinks they have anything to do with Jesus coming at the end of time, I have no idea.

There have been hundreds or thousands of eclipses visible from various parts of the earth in the last 2000 years. So, what does that tell you?
 
Eclipses have been going on since the beginning of time and after all of them, the world was the same. Jesus did not come a second time after them and most likely won’t this time either.
Please, no one can or should try and predict when Jesus will come again. We will not know when.

What are you afraid of? If you “have work to do,” just begin! No need to wait any longer.

I can’t really p(name removed by moderator)oint why it scares me. I think because i really want a stronger faith to believe that when we die, its not the end? The mere thought of death, or losing a loved one scares me.
 
Also there was a bible verse that said the moon would turn to blood. They said the blood moons are a sign.
 
But this is not the first blood moon that has ever been, TSB4.

So do you not believe in heaven? Do you think that when you die, that is all?

I want to believe in Heaven. Being that my faith isn’t strong, Im not 100% there. 😦
 
Well, it is interesting to me that you are worrying/ believing what you read in the bible about the blood moon and yet, you do not have faith enough to not worry about death.

If you got your faith stronger, you would worry less about death. Worrying less about death will allow you to appreciate and enjoy your life more now, as you are living it.

I remember your other thread, how are you feeling TSB4?

I dont necessarily believe it, But, it is unsettling to hear knowing I need to work on my faith.

I am feeling … ok. Just okay. Found out we are having another boy. So now it will be 3 boys and 2 girls. Thanks for asking

Do you think this is the first time in 2000 years there has been a red moon or an eclipse?

There are eclipses every year in different parts of the world. For some reason the end times televangelists are only concerned with the ones visible from the USA. Maybe it’s because it’s their target market for selling their snake oil.

Have a wonderful and Holy Triduum and Eastertide.
Go to Mass on Holy Thursday and give thanks for the Mass! That’s a great way to build your faith. At the end of the Mass, they will transfer the Eucharist to an altar of repose…a place for Adoration. Go there and pray with Jesus…like the Apostles were supposed to do in the Garden of Gethsemane. Spend time keeping Jesus company…He will bless you and your dear children.

I agree with the other posters regarding the moon. I will pray for you, your faith and family.
I’m not sure if you are a Catholic Christian or protestant? Either way, if you could find a Catholic Church to go in and sit and pray there is much peace and comfort in that which may be helpful. Also, have your read or listened (cd’s) to anything by Peter Kreeft? He is very logical in explaining faith. Catholic churches often have his CD’s in their foyer or books can be purchased from Ignatius Press.

The world was going to end so many times but we are still here.
 
I’m only 22 and hear a new doomsday prophecy every few years. But seriously, the saddest thing is that people actually believe these to the point of suicide. There was Harold Camping’s prediction in '94, then Y2K, then the particle accelerator was supposed to open a black hole in 2008, then the May 21, 2011 Rapture (again, Harold Camping), then the Mayan 2012 apocalypse, now this.

Yeah, these are the first Lunar eclipses since Our Lord ascended into Heaven, so it has to mean the end is soon… :rolleyes:

Now that I got my bit of sarcasm out of the way (Yes I am a bit of a jerk sometimes :p) Our Lord is coming back soon but I don’t believe anyone does any good trying to predict when that will be. Soon can be thousands of years for our Lord because he exists outside of the constraints of time. And thousands of years really is not that long in the grand scheme of things. We are not the first generation to experience natural wonders like Solar or Lunar eclipses and even stranger phenomenon. There will always be people saying “This proves the end is soon” Just smile and nod your head when they tell you that, ok? 🙂
 
I saw somewhere online the claim that what’s unusual about this is the series of 4 ‘blood moons’ over the next year or so, and how this supposedly ties in with Bible verses about end times. On further reading, it turns out this isn’t even the first time there’s been a series of them like this, either. Given the dates in the article, it actually has been happening about every 20 to 30 years since 1910.
