ecumenical pro-life activities?

along with several other catholic friends, i pray at the local abortion mill. while i was there today, it occurred to me that it might be good to invite christians from other denominations–especially evangelicals–to come with us. we disagree on theological issues, but maybe we could at least work together on this, i thought. but then it occurred to me that (a) the evangelicals would probably reject our invitation; or (b) if they came, would be freaked out by all of the rosary praying and probably not return. thoughts?

At our abortion mill there are always people of MANY different backgrounds out in front - some pray, some counsel the women going in, some talk about fetal development. I know the Catholics pray the rosary. However, they are not all Catholic.

In addition, I work at a pregnancy crisis center. It is Christian, but not a specific denomination. The philosophy on birth control is very Catholic - as in, don’t use it! So a lot of Catholics volunteer, but so do a lot of Protestants! Whether they believe in the absolutely no birth control stance or not, they at least follow the rules in counseling the women.

What you propose is a great idea, and I think more people would be on board with it than you think! When I was an evangelical, I would have loved to be invited to stand outside and pray against abortions. (Although you are right, the rosary may have freaked me out back then, but I’ll never know for sure…)

Look online (Google) and see if you can find a local LFL (Lutherans For Life) group. I know there are quite active in some areas, and are very willing to work ecumenically.
