Ecumenics is becoming a hobby of sorts.

Open to any and all RATIONAL discussion. I’m Catholic but have been Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Presbyterian Church USA and Episcopalian. This after being born and raised Pentecostal. Perhaps I could be on THE JOURNEY HOME.

John 17:21 is my prayer. Blessings!

See you in the Eastern Orthodox church in a couple of years then I suppose.

May I suggest that you read Scott Hahn’s “Rome Sweet Home” and Patrick Madrid’s “Surprised by Truth”.

You could write an interesting book. Do any of the previous faiths still interest you? And, my curious side is emerging here, did this journey begin with your family or after you left home?

I still hold a soft spot in my heart for the Episcopal Church and even though their leadership is extremely politcally liberal, I attended a great parish with a lot of great Godly people. They know their struggles believe me, and those that leave a lot of folks do understand why. I do admire the people who stay and fight, trying to make a difference. It is beautiful liturgy to be sure.

Do not really miss the others and to be honest with you, I do not know why I was ever a part of them. I can only surmise that due to being hard of heart in certain areas towards the RCC at that time, God allowed me to venture to one day be able to fully appreciate what I had.

The LCMS church I was a member of…well, in a weird way I always seemed to find myself defending the RCC during Bible Study, group talks, things of that nature. No Holy Water fonts bothered me as well, especially since the EC I went to actually did have these fonts. The LCMS I attended was a hodge podge. Some so conservative I felt they should’ve been fundamentalists and others who were liberal to the point that they questioned the pastor about the 40 days for life prayer vigils that I had suggested we start supporting.

By that time, I knew I had made a major mistake. I hold no ill will but I do feel the pastor still holds a grudge that I left. Glad to be back home, but I do love ecumenics. A lot of common ground is there to unite us against this world and Satan.

Oops. Forgot the 2nd part. My sister left Pentecostalism for Catholocism while in college. I arrived later.

Just,

What was the one thing that you noted that caused you to think…I can’t stay here and then decided to come home?

I started out Methodist, then was Catholic, then Lutheran, then Unitarian, then Methodist again, then Catholic again, and now I’m trying the Episcopal Church. So I can relate.

Lisa,

Relate to what?

The power of the Eucharist and how it is indeed Christ Himself. That and I do not get the notion that the precious Son of God Himself came to humanity to die for us, rise for us and to establish His church to have 38,000 different other groups come along and say His bride is wrong. No way, no how.

I will NEVER leave the Catholic Church again. I absolutely feel the Anglican and Lutheran ordinariates will help bring about their return to the Mother Church. May not be in my lifetime, but I earnestly believe before the Son of God returns to Earth again, His church WILL be one.

Thanks.

Just,

The problem I had with Protestant thought was the problem with believing that God created the heavens and the earth, kept planets in place, stars in place and the earth in orbit for time immemorium…

I saw how a great deal of time was spent on Old Testament heroes and the plight of people of Israel through disobedience wandering, and finally gathered under one leadership…and yet in all of this they stayed together under the hand of God…

So, then Christ comes, does all his stuff and establishes His Church…

The Protestants I knew spent time speaking about marriage, family, values, etc, God hates divorce, etc…and then

The Body of Christ is the Church, The Bride of Christ is the Church…

and then they wanted me to accept that God did all of this with the universe, delivered His people, established His Church His Bride…but somehow could not keep His bride in place and poof…

we need Protestant thought to rediscover the Bride…say what?
