I put it in Popular Media not apologetics;) It is sad, I think Catholic or not we ought to pray for the soul of this man don’t you?

There’s lots of things we post here that aren’t specifically about Catholics.

We can, and should pray for his soul and for his family.

Vigil service for Delfina Orozco Guerrero, 78, will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mrs. Guerrero died Monday, May 14, 2001, at her home in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 25, 1922, at Lyons, the son of Augustine P. and Jessie (Marquez) Orozco. In 1930, the family moved to Garden City where she attended school.

A homemaker, Mrs. Guerrero’s hobbies were cooking, canning, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

On May 31, 1938, she married Jose T. “Joe” Guerrero at Garden City. He died March 29, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bobby Guerrero; five brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include seven sons, Ben, Lawrence, Nick, John, Henry “Hank,” Rick and Eddie, all of Garden City; a daughter, Elvira Guerrero Jalomo, Fort Worth, Texas; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, the Cancer Society or the donor’s choice, all in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.

He is most probably Catholic his mother was obviously, we sould pray for him and his family regardless.

What happened to him did they say?😦

**I just saw the press conference online. They don’t know what happened, as he seemed fine the night before. They don’t believe that drugs were involved, because Eddie had just mentioned that he just celebrated his 4th year of sobriety.:clapping: They also mentioned that he was “very open about his new faith. He just became a born again Christian”. There will be tributes this week, one of the tributes will be on Smackdown. **

**So sad. **

What is WWE & who was Eddie???
WWE = World Wrestling Entertainment (Formally known as the WWF).

Eddie Guerrero was one of their biggest name stars.

A World Wrestling Entertainment star was found dead in his hotel room Sunday in Minneapolis, where he was scheduled to appear that evening in a WWE show.

Eduardo Gory Guerrero, 38, didn’t respond to a wake-up call Sunday morning, authorities said. His nephew, fellow WWE wrestler Chavo Guerrero, and hotel security at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center forced their way into the room and found him.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, police said. An autopsy was planned to determine how Guerrero died.

His nephew said Guerrero was open about past drug and alcohol abuse but had been sober for four years. Guerrero was married and had three children.

“This is a huge loss,” said WWE chairman Vince McMahon. “Eddie was a wonderful, fun-loving human being. Eddie was a consummate performer.”

Guerrero was a featured star on the UPN series “WWE Smackdown!” and son of Mexican wrestler Gory Guerrero. Last year, he became the second wrestler of Hispanic heritage to be WWE champion, though he lost the title four months later.

UPN also aired a special last year on his life, “Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story.” The program chronicled Guerrero’s childhood and his struggle with drug addiction that almost cost him his job, family and life.

This is from the Associated Press.

I watched that too. I think Vince actually said “new found faith” which could mean that Eddie’s still Catholic and just returned to a more faithful life, though as you can see with Shawn Michaels, Sting, Ted Debiasi, The Road Warriors, etc. the whole Bible Christian movement is huge in professional wrestling. Isn’t Vince Catholic though? Of course if Vince is than his son-in-law might also be… Sorry to get off topic. It’s so sad to see what happened to Eddie. I prayed for his soul and family at evening Mass tonight.

I watched the tribute tonight. It was pretty moving. Like many others I was shocked and very sorry to hear about his death. I don’t watch regularly( mostly of bits & pieces) but my Husband and my Brother watch every week and I was very familiar with L-A-T-I-N-O O HEAT! Prayers said for him & his family.

I cried like a baby it was very moving and I hurt for the other wrestlers:crying: The pain they felt was evident and when that one wrestler said that Eddie had for the first time had every member of WWE praying in the name of Jesus, it was so moving.

I saw the pain in their faces too. Eddie was a great man and an amazing athlete and entertainer. I miss him already!

I watched the show last night as well. I thought it was done very well. It allowed ALL, wrestlers, front office people, and fans, to begin the grieving process. Shows the realness of the preformers.

Yeah but who know what permanate damage might have been done from the prolonged drug use.

The difference between this generation and the previous generation is amazing. Bruno Sammartino never drank or did drugs. He is now at or around 70. Still lifts weights and jogs a couple of miles a day.

That tribute reminded me of the Owen Hart tribute back in May 99. A real tear-jerker.

Speculation at this point is that he had an enlarged heart from steroid use. But again, that is speculation.

But the same thing happened to Brian Pillman, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Davey Boy Smith, and many more. Very sad.
