…who wanted to receive Communion while in an invalid marriage? This story has been circulating around for a while. It seems like a false story-- something smells wrong about the whole thing. Has the Vatican confirmed or denied this story?

What a convoluted statement! Why can’t the Vatican simply state, “no, the Pope did not advise the woman in the irregular marriage to receive Communion”.

When a story such as this gets out, it sends the false impression to lapsed or uncatechized catholics to believe the opposite of what the Church stance holds.

Perhaps it is best that Pope Francis not make such surprise calls. The contents of such a call, or false contents, will come out.
