Whats the one thing that you learned in listening to the Homily?

Since you don’t refer to a specific one; I remember once the words of a priest in a funeral for a man who took his life and he said:

We entrust X to our ever Forgiving, Merciful and Just God. It reminded me of how magnificent our God was and how he sent his son Jesus to die for every single sin for he so loved the world.

I’ve seen a post from you but forgot to say…
Welcome to CAF!~

Mary.

I listened to the priest yesterday. I think I would suggest to him that he follow the money bread crumb trail.

I learned how not to cheat by posting my homework questions to the internet.

The OP is in RCIA.

The Homily varies by each priest. Some use it to illustrate a contemporary point can that can be applied from the Gospel, some simply teach about the Gospel passage or one of the other readings, and others talk about issues that are pressing in the parish at the moment.

I prefer the ones that explain the message of the Gospel, but in every instance, I trust the discretion of the priest and figure there is something that I can learn from his scholarship.

From a list of “Jokes for Sermons”

One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex staring up at the large plaque that hung in the foyer of the church. The plaque was covered with names, and small American flags were mounted on either side of it. The seven year-old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside him and said quietly, “Good morning, Alex.”
*
Good morning, Pastor,” replied the young man, still focused on the plaque. “Pastor McGhee, what is this?” Alex asked.
*
“Well, son, it’s a memorial to all the men and women who have died in the service.”
*
Soberly, they stood together, staring at the large plaque. Little Alex’s voice was barely audible when he finally managed to ask, “Which one, the 9:00 or 10:30 service?”
