I went to an OF Mass last friday and the priest did not wash his hands during the Offertory.

Is this liturgical abuse and a valid Mass?
 
Surely the lavabo comes AFTER the offertory? It probably happened so quickly that it wasn’t noticeable. It’s only a quick trickle of water and equally quick drying after all - purely symbolic.

It’s not a major abuse; it may have been a mistake.

It’s the confection of the Eucharist that’s really valid or invalid as opposed to the whole Mass. It wouldn’t invalidate the Eucharist and it had no affect on the Mass.
 
Perhaps you were so enraptured in the majesty of the Sacred Mysteries that you missed the priest doing so. 🙂

As others said, even if the priest left it out deliberately (which would be wrong for us to assume that he did), the Mass would still be valid. The only thing that would invalidate the Mass would be using improper matter or deliberatley mangling the words of consecration.

I agree, it’s likely that it happened and the person just didn’t notice. Even if it wasn’t present, it was most likely a mistake and a very minor abuse.
The only thing that would invalidate the Mass would be using improper matter or deliberatley mangling the words of consecration.

Two more things would invalidate the mass:
  1. If the priest was secretly charlie sheen or 007 operating in disguise, the improper person (lack of ordination) would invalidate
  2. If the priest had no intention of doing what the church did, then the lack of intent would be strong enough to invalidate.
