This article reminds me of the Obama operating principle.

“Never let a crisis go to waste…advance the agenda under cover of the crisis”

I wouldn’t trust a secular media website to actually have an understanding in Catholicism.

Tradition also tells us that Our Lady has a greater role than all the apostles combined. Since ancient times the Church has honoured St Mary Magdalene as the “apostle to the apostles.” Women can and do have positions of influence and glory within the Church without being priests.

There’s an editorial in the Boston Globe entitled “Why Don’t Women Have A Role In the Catholic Church.” It’s related to the abuse.
Why don’t women have a role in the Catholic Church? - The Boston Globe

It will upset a great many people who read it.

As for me, I agree with it 100%. The writer is right.
Umm. That is not an editorial. It’s an opinion piece from single Catholic layperson. An editorial would be written and published by the editorial board of the Boston Globe.

And there are so many assertions made by this writer that is so off-base and incorrect that it makes it hard for me to take this writer seriously. If she had made more accurate observations of today’s Catholic Church, I would have given more weight in what she had to say.

Did the paper have an article with an opposite view point so readers could get a balanced view of the matter? If not it’s all one sided propaganda. That’s one of the reasons I stopped reading The New York Times. Their opinions and editorials and even feature stories we’re always predictably one sided supporting their usual agenda while rarely giving space to dissenting opinions.

Too bad the women pastors and elders at Willow Creek Community Church didn’t stop the abuse of several women and two boys with special needs.
Too bad Asia Argento didn’t stop herself from grooming and abusing a 17 year old boy for years.
Too bad Lou Anna Simon, president of Michigan State University, didn’t stop Larry Nassar and mishandled the entire case.
The editorial is more concerned with pushing an ideological agenda, playing identity politics and exploiting a tragedy to advance them rather going after the underlying factors that facilitate abuse.
