By John JalsevacFebruary 22, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - There was a time, not so long ago, when pro-lifers, in an effort to galvanize the apathetic, would recount to them the disturbing opinions of a certain Princeton professor, Peter Singer, who, amongst other things, has long held that it is…

About 1930 contraception became OK.

Then in 1973 abortion became OK

Now we have:
…in a 2006 interview Singer was asked point-blank: “Would you kill a disabled baby?” His response? “Yes, if that was in the best interests of the baby and of the family as a whole.”

“Many people find this shocking,” he continued, “yet they support a woman’s right to have an abortion. One point on which I agree with opponents of abortion is that, from the point of view of ethics rather than the law, there is no sharp distinction between the fetus and the newborn baby.”
It is a funny thing, though, about the social left, with its ever fluid notion of truth and blind faith in the goodness of “progress” and “change”, that an opinion that is one day deemed “too extreme”, very soon becomes “edgy,” and then “progressive” and, before you know it, “acceptable” or “ethical”.
As Wesley Smith writes, “It wasn’t many years ago that almost everyone accepted that infanticide is intrinsically and inherently wrong. No more. With personhood theory and the ‘quality of life’ ethic increasingly permeating the highest levels of the medical and bioethical intelligentsia, we are moving toward a medical system in which babies are put down like dogs and killing is redefined as compassion.”
This is really sick stuff. We, Catholics and Protestants, have done a terrible job of teaching our children ethics. Did we learn nothing when we defeated Hitler’s darwinian socialism? Did we learn nothing from our own American Eugenics Movement?

I agree with you. It is almost impossible to teach kids the right way when the other side has the schools, TV, and even some of the Church. We need help, and right now!!

The lack of objective ethics has reached crisis levels. Our public education system has failed. We as parents have failed. And like you said, many of our Churches and many in our Churches have failed. We have to take a stand and refuse to back down. Life and Liberty are sacred.

So based on this, just how long is it until we are forced into a socialized medecine system that tries to force us to commit infanticide on “defective children” for their own good, or bear the cost ourselves with no insurance available. Then the next logical step would be euthanasia of the elderly for their own good and quality of life when care gets too expensive.

This makes me sick

this doesn’t surprise me. I once had an argument with a pro-abortionist who argued that babies and young children were only “potential persons” just as unborn children are.

Utilitarianism is here. Nazism is just around the corner.

Nazism was ahead of its time. It was the frog being placed in boiling water and jumping out immediately.

Our society is like a frog placed in cool water, with the water slowly, but steadily being heated until the frog is boiled to death unaware of the situation.

No need to get depressed or disheartened. We are to do the best we can to evangelize, live the faith and fight evil. Our Lord told us it wouldn’t be easy.

We should be prepared to fight now and fight hard to prevent Roe v. Wade II being passed. It seem like human societies can only develop to a certain point before sliding back down into primitive behavior (which is what infanticide is; read the prophets and it will be clear that there is indeed nothing new under the sun). 😦
