Educated guess: how long was the Holy Family in Egypt?

One of my favorite subjects.
Jesus was born in 12 B.C., close to the time of the passage of Halley’s Comet, and born somewhere close to Bethlehem. The comet was a tremendously spectacular celestial event. This prompted the “wise men” to come to Herod looking for a new-born King, and so the infanticide began.
Josephs and his family had to flee to Egypt in either 12, 11, or 10 B.C.

But the Holy Family escaped to Egypt and according to our hypothesis stayed there for some seven years until Herod died in 4 BCE. In XIII century Bonaventure wrote: “When the Lord had completed his seven years’ exile in Egypt, an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream…” (17, Chapter XII, p. 89). It would be interesting to know how Bonaventura got “seven years’ exile in Egypt”? "

Why not?

Because they are merely inferring a terminus post quem for the sample object (the Nazarene) standing in front of them. When guessing someone’s age, “You’re not yet 50” most probably means “You look older than a youth, but not as old as an elder”. That might well make it a comment about someone’s imputed experience, knowledge, and authority, but it is far from being specific about dates.

As a Catholic, I don’t believe in the idea that Mary the Aeiparthenos (ever-Virgin) had other biological children besides Jesus.

As a non-Catholic, I don’t believe that Mary had other biological children: our nearest sources to her own time say that she did not, and we have no subsequent record of any such bloodline.
