while it’s true that some priests have Bachelor degrees in other academic fields (engineering, business, etc), the ones who enter the seminary after earning a bachelor’s degree typically take the 500 level courses in Philosophy before starting their graduate training. In other words, while they don’t receive a BA in Philosophy, they typically do take as many as two years of Philosophy courses and other foundation courses before starting their graduate course work.

After my last post, I figured I would post the minimum education of each priest who attend the seminary today (again, this is based on St. Charles Borromeo Seminary)

For new seminarians who already have a bachelor’s degree, see my previous post: Educational Background Non Denom Pastors - #111 by phil19034. But they also have the opportunity to earn a Master in Philosophy

And then when in Theology school, they seminarian at St. Charles Borromeo receives two Master degrees, a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Theology. Here are the courses he would take: Master of Divinity Curriculum | Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary

So a priest graduating today from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary would graduate with at least two Master Degrees and some might even have the opportunity to earn a third in Philosophy. And all of this is before ordination to the priesthood.

I’m not even talking about the more advanced degrees in Theology that many earn after becoming priests.

Our former priest studied architecture and I’m pretty sure he has a Masters.
 
I tell my wife l could be his twin, and she laughs and laughs. Then she stops, but cannot contain herself, so she laughs and laughs some more.
