EF in Pittsburgh

I’ll be in Pittsburgh this weekend and would like to go to an EF parish. I’ve a few times in the past (in Baltimore). Does anyone know where to go?

I know of a father whose home parish is Holy Wisdom. If he’s any example of it, there’ll be a lot of reverence there!

Pray for us who don’t have the good fortune to have an EF nearby.

This is the loveliest TLM I’ve ever been to 🙂 It was my first, which might skew it a bit, but you will love going to Mass here.

There’s a big highway next to the building (make sure you take the road next to 279, not 279 itself) and the plan was to tear it down when they were building the highway (after a big fight - the highway people seemed to want all the Catholic churches!!) but then the plan shifted and the building stayed - to our immense benefit! There used to be a neighborhood surrounding it too.

Also make sure to check out St. Anthony’s, up the really steep hill on Rialto St (called Pig Hill because the slaughterhouse used to be on the bottom and they’d roll the pigs down it :D), which has the largest collection of relics outside of the Vatican. And somewhere there is a replica of the steps Christ ascended to receive His sentence, that you climb on your knees.

St. Patricks! Its a beautiful little Church. Ascending the Holy Stairs on ones knee’s is a very moving experience, I highly recommend it! Check out this website: saintsinthestrip.org/home.html

Its the parish website of St. Patrick’s (the Church with the Holy Stairs) and St. Stanislaus Koska parish. Both Churches are in walking distance of each other and quite beautiful. If you have the time stop by and check them out.

Definitely visit this Church. Absolutely stunning. When I went on a “mini-pilgrimage” to Pittsburgh with the Newman Club at my college these are the three Churches we visited. One of the most moving spiritual experiences of my life.

That’s amazing 😃 I plan on doing these two myself, tried to go last time I was in town but there was no time! Thanks for sharing, just makes me even more determined to check them out. 😃
 
Anytime! I hope you can make it, they are beautiful and historic churches. When you ascend the Holy Stairs on your knees, as you go up you gradually see the High Altar and its beautiful Crucifix. It puts new meaning and feeling behind “introibo ad altare Dei.”
 
The Church was beautiful, and I wish I had seen the rest of this thread before heading out on Friday!

I’ll be going back up in October to see the Vatican exhibit- I’ll have to make sure to visit the others then.

What’s the exhibit?! 🙂

Also come in December, see the only replica of the Vatican’s gigantic Nativity in downtown 👍
