If it’s a true love match, I think your wife would be happy to obey you. And you would rarely have to put your foot down about anything.
You have to look at the whole thing in context, you can’t just say “wife submit” with out the counterbalance of “love her like Christ loved the Church”. Submission does not mean she can’t have her own opinion or you don’t have to listen to it. Whats more your commanded to love her like Christ loves the Church. If you truly do that how much bossing around of your wife are you going to do? My husband is the head of our household, and I have free submitted my self to him. That doesn’t mean tells me what to do and demands obedience from me. Quite the opposite. When something comes up we discuss it and come to an agreement, because he loves and respects me. He wants to know what I think and how I feel about the issues going on in our lives. That I feel is the meaning behind that quote.
