Effectiveness of reparative therapy

You know Jim, you might want to check a ministry I know about called Celebrate Recovery, it isn’t reparative therapy but but a Christ Centered Recovery program that deals with many issues. They have one special support group that deals with sexual addictions, and it could be a Christ centerd way to deal with your attractions without trying to change your orientaion or being be condescending about your SSA. The small groups are not judgemental. It is based on 12 step principles and the groups usually have both hetersexual and homsexual men in them. They don’t try to fix you, just support you and it is free. It could be a way to help you deal with staying chaste. Myself I attend Celebrate Recovery for alcoholism and chemical addiction. I did a 12 step study with 11 other men and some of the men in the group in my 12 step study had (and still do) issues with SSA. No body tried to change them, everybody in the group just became very close brothers in Christ that gave and continue to give (the study group ended over a year ago) support to each other as we all try to live with our different issues as Christians. Just suggesting a support network, never did I assume you are not living a chaste life. I appoligize if I made you think that. for I have taken your word on that. It just concerns me that you want be indentified as “Gay” Do you know where the term 'gay originated from?

It is possible that the term “gay” is derived from this mythical Greek figure, Ganymede, cup-bearer of the gods, who exemplified the concept of man/boy sex to the masculine homosexuals. The British term “

catamite,” meaning the submissive partner in a male homosexual relationship, is derived from the Roman version of Ganymede, Catamitus. The terms “gay” and “lesbian” (the latter derived from the name of the Isle of Lesbos in Greece) eventually replaced the terms Urning and Dailing as the names of choice for homosexuals.

To me it seems so degrading of a name, pushed on to those that deal with SSA, as a trap ready to consume them.

I choose the term gay because I am happy. There is nothing in my life to be unhappy about.
