The longer a thread, the bigger one’s ego - it seems like it is happening here sometimes.

I think it’s just that some people really do close themselves off to truth… It’s one thing to come here asking questions, responding in charity, learning, sharing etc…

It’s another to come convinced that you have something to say that will MAKE others believe as you do. This is true on both sides really… I think we are all guilty of “using too many words” at times, but our faith is something that we all LOVE to discuss and share:)

It can be great sometimes to have long threads where real sharing is happening on both ends… Not with the intention to “convert” or “change” anyone’s belief, but to simply share the truth as it has been revealed to our hearts… To grow in love with each other as well as our separated brothers and sisters.

Sometimes, it takes a WHOLE lot of words, to even gain the smallest understanding of the tiniest subject… But I find it comforting to know, that any one of the things said here, no matter how small, or regardless of the credentials and scholaraship of the poster, could still be used by God for something great:)

It would be nice to see more openess and honesty though… It seems so often that people come just “baiting” one another, and never really listening to either side, you know?

God bless!

yes, thanks for your post. I would say not all threads but a few seems to become no longer Christ-centered but self-centered.

I agree. Last night I was talking with a friend who is a former JW referring her to this site and I found myself telling her that you will find a lot of people trying to find the ‘loophole’ in Christianity/Catholicism, in order to fit religion into their lives instead of fitting their lives into God’s law. Then getting belligerent when it has been explained to them that it won’t work.

🤷

Okay, so which of you unselfish, egoless, pious believers are willing to let anyone worship whatever they want to and you not feel compelled to bring them into fold?

This thread is not about pointing one who is holier than the others. It is just a small reminder one can take his compelled feeling into action in a wrong way – there are people who can be turned off by such compelled feeling.

If you have realized you are not egoless, then it is good for you.

An unselfish, egoless, pious believers might not need to say much words but bring more souls to the truth than the one who writes thousand words.

Me thinks that you are missing the point. 😊

I am selfish, have a big ego and am far from pious, but instead of trying to find the loophole to excuse my behavior, I am trying to become a virtuous person.

Flame on good sir…

And, you know the right way?

I leave people to their own designs. I could care less what they think. It is a free country. You are free to do whatever you want. You just can’t do it with me. 😉

Why would you show such concern in this thread?

Why, thank you. As if I needed your permission.

Confessing to having faults can be a big ego-trip, too. 😃 But, false piety gets the job done 9 times out of 10.

I agree. Some people just want to see how long they can argue with someone else, trying to beat them into submission.

Now, there was one thread that I, and others, kept alive just to get it to 1,000 posts and killed off 😛
