Hi Everyone,
Bart Ehrman’s Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the
Bible and Why has been around for a while now. He has also delivered a series of lectures at Stanford. In the book he basically says that the Bible we know is full of mistakes and that the strongest Church movement won. This is used as a source of argument for many inflammatory attacks by ex-Catholics and militant atheists on some forums against the Trinity, the Church and the whole Christian church for the matter and even Christ Himself. The said attackers say that ‘scientific research’ was conducted and it shows ‘your bible is not true’ and that type
of rhetoric.
My question is, is there any Vatican or Catholic research into
early Bible history - the 300 years post-Christ which can comment, disprove or enlighten us about Ehrman’s research.
Was Ehrman’s reseach superior to that done by the CC?
(I seriously don’t belive that. I wouldn’t believe one study no matter
the subject of the study.)
I cannot believe that the Catholic Church with it’s universities and institutes does not have some Google’ble historical or otherwise translation note material from these old manuscripts or other research on the subject. Did one old-ex Fundamentalist chap do all the research and the rest of the community has been doing nothing? I’m also suprised by the lack of scientific community commentary on this particular subject.
Perhaps I’m asking for the wrong type of material. Maybe the CC has covered these translation issues long ago. Maybe this is just much ado about nothing but I’d still appreciate some (name removed by moderator)ut about this from you good ppl
Some of these lectures can be found here:

Hope you folks can help.
BTW Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
