Ejaculatory prayer...do you do it?

Please, please, while it’s correct to call such prayer ‘ejaculatory’ and such prayers ‘ejaculations’, it’s best, out of respect to the only sense in which most modern people understand the word ‘ejaculation’, please avoid causing scandal or a fit of the giggles and call them ‘aspirations’.

Whatever it’s called, I think we’ve all done it at least on occasion … who hasn’t been running to catch a bus and praying ‘God, let me catch the bus’ or some such.

Me too. I’m a little shy about it.

I’m even very conservative about saying The Lord’s Prayer.

My Pentecostal family members do it all the time.

I always found it to be beautiful.

St. Feofan Zatvornik also recommends for his spiritual children special short prayers. Most common for Orthodox are those for

I’ve had the most beautiful words come out of my mouth and I know that they didn’t come from me, but from somewhere divine.

I’ll say that this was an ejaculatory prayer.

It’s usually when I’m in a very Holy State (like during Eucharistic Adoration).
