El Paso's Fr. Rodriguez being transferred to new parish

El Paso’s famous traditionalist priest, Fr. Michael Rodriguez, has confirmed that he will be transferred to a new parish. (Link)

I think, however, that the author of the linked article got something wrong. After googling around a bit, it seems to me that the Fr. Michael Rodriguez in Sweetwater, TX is not the same as Fr. Michael Rodriguez in El Paso, TX.
 
In a state the size of TX, such mistakes are completely understandable.🤷

I suppose so, however Sweetwater is not in the Diocese of El Paso so it seems unlikely that his bishop would transfer him there.
 
There are 2 Sweetwater Cities in Texas, however the other one is in Spanish, something like Aqa Duci (sp). Sorry, I know the pronunciation, but not the spelling.😊 and is in So.TX.

However this has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.🤷

Just want to help clear some things up…Father Michael Rodriguez from San Juan Bautista Parish El Paso was transferred to another Diocese. He originally was in the El Paso Diocese. He was transferred to the San Angelo Diocese in Sweetwater TX. He has been tranferred…ironically to a parish named Holy Family in Sweetwater and the the preist there is also named Father Michael Rodriguez. He is a disobedient preist and this is the result of his disoebience to the Bishop of El Paso and diobedience to laws of our catholic church!
 
Give us some examples of his disobedience. It sounded from the story that he was obedient to me. I want to know what Church laws he disobeyed.

I do too-show some examples.

I’m rather confused now-is this the same Father Rodriguez who is very outspoken on issues such as abortion and homosexualiity? I’ve seen some videos of him preaching in church and speaking out [with charity] at a City Hall meeting about medical benefits for homosexual city employees (their ‘partners’ :rolleyes:).

A bishop doesn’t have the authority to transfer a priest out of his own diocese, let alone as a “punishment”. If Fr. Rodriguez is indeed now in another diocese, he is either “on loan” or he requested to be incardinated elsewhere. This would require an agreement between all parties - the priest, the original bishop and the bishop accepting the priest for incardination.

And what Church laws is he accused on disobeying?

There are no examples of disobedience because he was not disobedient. The bishop says he is violating IRS rules or some such nonsense. Fr. Rodriguez spoke about doctrine mainly on the Church’s position of homosexuality and not on endorsing any particular candidate. If you think he was disobedient, find the quote or give the so-called example of disobedience.

Agua Dulce, TX. About 95 miles east of Laredo, and in the Corpus Christi Diocese.

In essence a fuel and beverage stop on the road from Laredo to the gulf coast.:)🙂

The link provided in the OP refers to the Fr. Michael Rodriguez I’ve known since he was about 8 years old (his sister and I were good friends in grade school.)

The article states that he is being transferred to another church, not another diocese.

Can you provide proof of his disobedience? It’s against forum rules to talk badly about any priest, religious, bishop, or pope
 
In googling around for more information, it appears that San Juan Bautista was the only parish in the diocese with a regular EF Mass. Does anyone know if that is still the case? What will happen to the Latin Mass community there?
 
I received a notice that Father was being transferred to a parish in “West Texas”.
I don’t know where they will have a regularly scheduled EF mass. I attended when
I could, but I know it is a real blow to the parishioners.
