Elderly friend's niece passed away

C. is an 89-year-old lady who was a longtime friend of my late mother. They knew each other for 55 years at least. C. and my mother had their ups and downs, but basically she is like a member of our family (she was also around much more than any blood relatives, for various reasons). C never married and her immediate family members, including siblings older than her, died a long time ago. She had one niece, Carolyn, with whom she kept in touch by mail and telephone, although Carolyn lived a very long way away and was elderly herself, so could not visit in person.

I found out today when speaking to C. that she had not heard from Carolyn in a while, so finally, with the help of her care giver, she called Carolyn to see how she was doing. The phone was answered with a recorded message from Carolyn’s husband saying that his wife had suddenly died. C. was quite sad over this and is also in frail health herself.

Can you please pray for the repose of the soul of Carolyn, and also for C. as she copes with the loss of an important person in her life. Thank you.
Eternal rest grant unto Carolyn, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
May her soul, and the souls of all other faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

May the love of God and the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ
bless and console C. in the loss of her niece,
and gently wipe every tear from her eyes:
in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
