Elderly movie stars still alive

One who comes to mind is the great Olivia de Havilland, who played Melanie in “Gone with the Wind.” She turned 99 just the other day, July 1st. Happy Birthday, Ms. Havilland!

Any others you know of?
 
I hope Miss Melly makes it to 100! I love Gone With The Wind!

Yes, indeed. My favorite film of hers is “The Heiress,” also starring Montgomery Clift, Ralph Richardson, and Miriam Hopkins. It was directed by the incredibly talented William Wyler.
 
There’s also Zsa Zsa Gabor (allegedly 98, no one really knows) and Maureen O’Hara (95 next month).

Doris Day is 91.
 
Abe Vigoda, from the Godfather movie and the TV show Barney Miller, is 94!
 
I’m a great fan of classic movies, so I love it that some of these great stars are still alive. Did anyone mention Maureen O’Hara, who is 93 and Rhonda Fleming, who is 90. Eva Marie Saint will be 90 tomorrow. Angela Lansbury, who I loved in “Gaslight” and “The Picture of Dorian Gray” is 88. Sidney Poitier is 86, I think, and Ann Blyth, who I loved in “Mildred Pierce” is 85. Tippi Hedren is 84. I remember seeing her in “The Birds,” not one of my favorite films, but it’s okay.

My favorite is Doris Day, who has been mentioned. She is an animal lover like I am, and her romantic comedies, though so implausible, are so much fun! (In “Pillow Talk” she is riding in a convertible in the middle of a cold winter! And she doesn’t catch so much as a sniffle! LOL) I thought Doris had incredible screen chemistry with Rock Hudson. I don’t think there has been a couple with that kind of spark since.

I also love Katharine Hepburn, who, sadly, is no longer with us, but she did live to a ripe old age.

God bless them all. They gave us such great films and so many great memories we can not only cherish, but revisit again and again thanks to DVDs.

I understand that “Gone with the Wind” is a wonderful classic movie though I have never seen it. God bless all these actors and actresses for sharing their artistic gifts with us for so many years.

You gotta see it!!! It’s on TV ever so often. I watch it every chance I get. It’s amazing how they could pick the actors to fit the parts. God Bless, Memaw

Have not watched TV in MANY years. Well that’s not counting the cartoons I occasionally watch with my grandson.😛

I’m sure they have a DVD of it. If you still have a VHS player, you can still pick up a video of it cheap, at thrift sores. God Bless, Memaw

The classic movies are the best! I rarely, if ever, watch modern films.

I used to simply adore her movies and spent a great deal of time in front of the TV as a child. I thought she was one of the most beautiful women ever and loved when she sang Que sera(spelling?) ! I still wish life was actually like the idealization and myths the movies portrayed sigh. Life really was black and white then!
