This is to report the latest news that Bishop Beshara Rai. Bishop Of the Diocese of Jbeil has been elected Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for the Maronites. May God bless the new Patriarch and give him many years along with the Synod of Bishops of the Maronite Church.

This is the greatest news for the Maronite Church.

In case anyone is interested, Mar Beshara will be formally enthroned 25 March at 10h30 local (Beirut standard time), 04h30 EDT. I’m under the impression that the ceremony will be broadcast on Télé-Lumière-Noursat, but their website seems to be experiencing the proverbial “technical difficulties,” so I’ve been unable to verify.

It looked like Aoun was having a laugh over something with Frangieh. Typical. Oh, and I caught Aoun’s arrival: an interesting mix of polite applause and boos. Had I been there, the boos would have been louder still.
