I have a Kindle Keyboard with Wi-Fi and I’m satisfied with its use. It cost around $120 at the time of purchase in December 2010. The ink is the closest thing you’ll get to actual real paper which is less strenuous on the eyes and I would consider that its greatest feature. If you read in sunny or brightly lit place there is no glare.
If you want to purchase e-books the costs vary. The most popular books out today, let’s take for example Fifty Shades of Grey for its Kindle version, cost $9.99. I bought Never Let Me Go back in late 2010 and it cost around $6. Today, NLMG Kindle version sells for $12 vs its paperback at $11. I don’t have a reason for the increase in price.
The only issues I have with it is that you can’t organize your collection as you wish, no back light and absence of actual page numbers as one would have with a book. In place of page numbers my Kindle version gives percentages, so, if you’re half way through the book it’ll be 50% at the bottom corner of the screen. The black & white book covers are a non-issue for me compared to the ones that I’ve listed.
If you want an e-reader that does what it promises to do: to produce a reading experience that resembles reading straight for an actual book, then the Kindle gets top grade. It only has one function and it does it fantastically.
