During Mass at school today, the priest, during Ecce Agnus Dei, lifted the paten and chalice and said the prayer. Is this permitted or is only elevation of the host allowed?

It’s NOT part of the Rubic directions.

Not sure exactly what you’re asking. Are you asking if it was OK to do paten & chalice both or if it was OK to use the paten instead of showing the Host?
This is what the GIRM says:
  1. The priest prepares himself by a prayer, said quietly, that he may fruitfully receive Christ’s Body and Blood. The faithful do the same, praying silently.
The priest next shows the faithful the Eucharistic Bread, holding it above the paten or above the chalice, and invites them to the banquet of Christ.

This is what the GIRM says:
The issue causing the question I THINK is th timging of the second elevation. Normally it is not done until AFTER the Lamb of God.

No, he said “Ecce Agnus Dei”, that’s the moment when the priest says “Behold the Lamb of God… happy are those who are called to his supper.”
