Elijah, Our Lady, and the Little Cloud

Hello, would an apologist be able to help me find information, either in Scripture or Tradition, that explains where we have the teaching that Elijah saw the cloud prefiguring the coming of Our Lady? I keep reading this teaching but I don’t see it and I really want to find it. I’ve put the scripture below that I’m referencing about St. Elijah. Thank you!

Scripture: 1Kings 18: 43, 44
43 And he said to his servant: Go up, and look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said: There is nothing. And again he said to him: Return seven times.

44 And at the seventh time, behold, a little cloud arose out of the sea like a man’s foot. And he said: Go up and say to Achab: Prepare thy chariot and go down, lest the rain prevent thee.

45 And while he turned himself this way and that way, behold the heavens grew dark, with clouds, and wind, and there fell a great rain. And Achab getting up went away to Jezrahel:

46 And the hand of the Lord was upon Elias, and he girded up his loins and ran before Achab, till he came to Jezrahel.
 
Pope St. Pius X identifies Mary as the little cloud, in his encyclical Ad Diem Ilum:
  1. How think otherwise? Could not God have given us, in another way than through the Virgin the Redeemer of the human race and the Founder of the Faith? But, since Divine Providence has been pleased that we should have the Man-God through Mary, who conceived Him by the Holy Ghost and bore Him in her breast, it only remains for us to receive Christ from the hands of Mary. Hence whenever the Scriptures speak prophetically of the grace which was to appear among us, the Redeemer of mankind is almost invariably presented to us as united with His mother. The Lamb that is to rule the world will be sent - but He will be sent from the rock of the desert; the flower will blossom, but it will blossom from the root of Jesse. Adam, the father of mankind, looked to Mary crushing the serpent’s head, and he dried the tears that the malediction had brought into his eyes. Noë thought of her when shut up in the ark of safety, and Abraham when prevented from the slaying of his son; Jacob at the sight of the ladder on which angels ascended and descended; Moses amazed at the sight of the bush which burned but was not consumed; David escorting the arc of God with dancing and psalmody; Elias as he looked at the little cloud that rose out of the sea. In fine, after Christ, we find in Mary the end of the law and the fulfillment of the figures and oracles.

What I’m reading and viewing here in these first responses are explanations on the scripture that the cloud is a “type” of Our Lady. And I get that, and that makes sense and I do appreciate the teaching. But what I’m * specifically asking * is where people are saying that * Elijah * was looking at the cloud and said it was Our Lady, or that he knew it was representing Our Lady? People have said that he knew. I’m not finding that anywhere in Scripture and Tradition that Elijah said that and I’d like to know. I have a devotion to St. John the Baptist, as such I’m fascinated with Elijah and love Our Lady, but I’d like to know about this detail, thanks in advance.
 
Well I’m checking in. I guess the answer is that Elijah may not have known, which is fine. But I don’t get why people are putting (what appears to be) words in his mouth. Thanks.
