I’m sure this was a slip of the keyboard – we can’t equate interracial marriage with sin. Nothing wrong with it, as there is with gay attempts at marriage.

This was my thought. If the same signs appeared in any other demographic, child sexual abuse would be one of the first things that would pop into my head.

It is funny how often this type of stuff is revealed in fiction. This season on Law and Order SVU, they did a two part show about abuse in the New York archdiocese which I assume was based in part on current events and the law suite filled against Cdl. Dolan.There was a sleazy Hollywood producer with a predilection for 12-year-old girls. No graphic details. Even Don Corleone, a Mafia Family leader, thought that this was immoral and disgusting.
The thing that got me is that the one priest who was engaged in S&M with the escort he was financially supporting, which is right out of the lawsuit (filed by parishes to recoup money stolen by the priest to pay for his sexual escapades who was being protected by the archdiocese).
On the show it was a loft (not a house) but when they showed the interior there is a life sized picture of St. Sebastian. What is interesting to me is that most Catholics, I imagine, don’t know is that the classic image of St. Sabestain is celebrated as a work of tantalizing homo-erotica among homosexual priests, but the set designer of Law and Order SVU did.
This may seem like a digression because were speaking of Hollywood and not the Church but there are many points of intersection and the point is that these things are being routinely revealed in works of fiction.
Think about all of the movies that Hollywood has made that involves sexuality with children such as Pretty Baby (Brooke Shields 1978) or The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (Jodie Foster 1976), why? Was there really a market for this in 1970’s mainstream America or did they take advantage of new sexual attitudes to start sharing something already well entrenched in Hollywood?
When I see someone like Miley Cryus the first thing that comes to mind is someone who is reacting to being sexual abused, and she might not even realize it. I think the sex is encouraged by those the child trusts and is made to seem normal and even enlightened. Most of the victims in Hollywood believe they were empowered and liberated when actually they were just abused.
In fact again this brought up in the season close of Ray Donovan where it was revealed that Donovan’s guilt wasn’t just over the abuse but also the fact that at some point he feel in love with his abuser and wanted to do it. A lot of pederast priests (technically more that 80% of the abuse wasn’t pedophilia) targeted youths who had questions about their own sexuality. It is the same in Hollywood and even if it is heterosexual it sold to the victim as something liberating and empowering which leads to the same type of confused and conflicted feeling the character Ray Donovan experienced.
I am torn between how much I should share this with other Catholics because it can obviously lead to a real test of faith, but a very illuminating book that I am still in the process of reading because it is large multi-volume set is The Rite of Sodomy by Robert Engel, and while this book is prominently on homosexuality in the Catholic Church it is also a history of homosexual practice through history and in that sense if very enlightening–the relevant point here is that pederasty has always been a homosexual sub-culture and is very much the root of the problems in Hollywood.
Echoing Cdl Sarah remarks on transgenderism, the problem with all of these issues and how they are related is in the fact they are an attempt to usurp natural law. Once natural law is removed experientially from people’s lives all of this stuff will no longer even seem unnatural. Once the last tethers to natural law are severed this type of perversity will be mainstream.

Glee was a full scale celebration of homosexual culture. The producer, Ryan Murphy, was also involved in Nip and Tuck (and ironically enough online cyber-bulling:channelguidemag.com/tv-news/2011/02/01/ryan-murphy-of-glee-from-bully-advocate-to-bully/ and abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/glee-extra-explains-tweeting-show-spoiler-ruined-life/story?id=37544461) and if you ever watch that show, which I don’t recommend–although it is helpful if you want a better understanding of just how homosexuality is disordered–then you will witness the really perverse and quite macabre humor that is a staple of homosexual culture. Murphy is also associated with American Horror Story, which I have never watched.

I think this an important distinction because most pedophiles are heterosexual, while most pederasts are homosexual. The media insisted on classifying sexual abuse among priests as pedophilia instead of ephebophilia to deny the link between the sexual abuse and homosexuality in the vast majority of cases.
