I found this forum in search of some Catholic-based help for a problem I’ve been having- and just now decided to start the thread after seeing something similar posted by another member, which made me feel a little better about it.

I was recently married (about a month ago) and every time we try to have intercourse it hurts so much that we have to stop. (I was a virgin.) We have tried everything (positions, lube, etc.) and it still is not working. I assume that after this many weeks I can be confident that there is actually a problem and plan to make a doctor’s appointment soon. What I am wondering though, is if anyone would be willing to share their own experience- how long did it take to become comfortable, what is a normal amount of pain, etc. I am not at all reluctant to seek help, but it would help give me a little push to know that this is not in fact normal compared to others’ experiences. I keep hoping it will get better, and it just isn’t. 😦

Well, actually, we’re not supposed to give medical advice here, so our responses might seem quite limited. Also for the sake of modesty, it may be better to communicate via PM on this topic. There are a few people who have dealt with this and I am hoping one of them will respond and then PM you with some information you can use.

But I just want to say

:hug3: This won’t last forever, lots of people have trouble at first, and it all works out for them.

Thank you all for your messages on this thread and the private ones. I really appreciate everyone’s candidness and it is definitely helpful to me as I deal with the issue. I am a little more confident that we can take care of this. Thankfully my husband is very supportive and patient, and all of your encouragement to a new stranger on here means a lot. Thank you! 🙂

Have courage! You are not alone, and doctors know what to do to help you!

🙂
