Embarressment?

During The Mass today I thought about what if a friend saw me In Mass Today. My initial emotion was embarressment, and I looked around to see anyone I might recognize.

I regret feeling that embarressment and (you probably guessed it) I’m wondering if I’ve sinned (again). 😦

I just Confessed my sins today, and I really hope this wasn’t a sin.
 
I highly doubt it was sinful.
Even if being embarrassed were sinful, you said it was an initial reaction, which isn’t really in your control.

However, it is a good idea to try to overcome that. Western culture makes us feel like being religious is embarrassing, but what weight does that hold if we are pleasing God and are backed by His love? When I get those kind of feelings, I think “If I am embarrassed of Jesus here, He might as well be embarrassed of me when I stand before the Father.”
Think that He is on your side, then the opposition doesn’t seem that significant.

A passing thought like that is just human…if your problems are never more than that …you have it made… You must have a sencitive sence of sin…in that state of mind i can see no evil…you sound like a sweet heart…to me…i dont think you have any worries…deborah

Is it sinful? I don’t know. What I do know is that Peter was embarrassed to be seen with Christ too, and he denied the Lord three times.

If a friend saw you in Mass then wouldn’t that friend be in Mass as well?? :hmmm:
 
If you looked around and saw a friend at Mass, then the only conclusion wo0uld be that youwere both at Mass. and if they saw you there, it would be the same - you were both at Mass.

To be concerned that somehow being seen at Mass is or could be sinful seems to border on scrupuolsity. Scrupuloisty is not a sin, but it is a very heavy psychological burden to carry. If this is an issue, then one who has it needs to seek competent help with a confessor who thoroughly understands the issue, and they need to follow the confessor’s advice exactly, as they are not capable of making judgements themself.
 
Well i wasnt there and niether were you… And a lot of thoughts go through peoples minds what maters is if they act on them or put those thoughts out… That is what this life is about being tried and winning our battles… Lets dont out rightious god…and act as though we dont sin …thats what forgiveness is for…also the girl seemed very young…and inmature… I didnt check her profiles…so i dont know for sure…lets dont act as everything is a imortable sin …its not…its true one should live as clean as of life as one should… But a lot of things go through the mind on a daily basis…even yours… What maters is what we do with them…

I think it depends on what you did with the thought. If you dwelled on it for some length of time, it could be sinful. However, if you acknowledged the temptation and then immediately rejected the thought, it may be considered a temptation overcome - a very good thing!
 
But when the thought came. and then I Looked around to make sure. does that equal sin?

did you intend to sin? did you intend to reject God and his commandments? did you make a conscious decision to sin? no? then no sin
if you have a problem with this type of worry please tell your priest about it so he can counsel you. It is a real burden to see sin where there is none, and if you struggle with this you find one good solid priest and confess only to him, and tell him of this problem and follow his advice including frequency of confession, and try not to ask 3rd parties for advice, it usually does not help and may hurt.
