Emergency Prayers Needed!!! Anarchy is spreading in Louisiana

New Orleans is in a state of Anarchy…Hopefully with them being under martial law, they will be able to suppress the riots.

The worse part is that the crime has spread to Baton Rouge and Zachary, etc…I was at the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) today with the Governor, Senator Vitter, and Senator Landrieux…This situation is starting to get out of hand…I was at the River Center as well were they are housing a large number of the evacuees…It is a cluster down there…the Red Cross is so disorganized…people are going crazy and getting desperate…riots started to break out in Baton Rouge…people have been shot and carjacked…stores are being robbed. Bishop Muench called the Cathedral and told them to evacuate immediately because of the danger…I was called in there and provided some protection to make sure Fr. Young and all the people there got out safely…We met with Senator Landrieux at the EOC and told her about the situation with Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans…there is a trapped Bishop, Priest, and roughly 15-25 Seminarians who are fearing for their lives…the place is in complete anarchy…the senator said she would pull some strings and have a boat sent to evacuate them…PLEASE, PLEASE PRAY…I WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED…GOD BLESS YOU ALL…I AM STAYING VIGILANT AND TRAVELLING FULLY ARMED TO THE GILL…my restraunt is in danger of being robbed, etc…Novenas and prayers are our only true defense.

Our prayers go out to all being affected but specifically to you & your family.

Let’s also remember to pray for all the relief centers all over the country and for God to continue opening people’s hearts to those in need. Fervent prayers are also needed requesting that God, in His infinate wisdom and mercy, not allow a hurricane to hit the Houston/Galveston area. Where would the current people in these shelters be if people from the Houston/Galveston area need to evacuate? Pray! Pray! Pray!

I saw the EOC press conference over the Internet and I thought it was stated that they did NOT want the media to ‘spread rumors’ about lootings and such.

Do you think they want to ‘play down’ the seriousness about what is Actually happening in the streets?

I didn’t htink Baton Rouge was going through the same ‘lootings’. I get the impression that Baton Rouge was pretty much getting back to ‘normal’?

I don’t know the extent of everything now…but I can assure you, that there are things happening that HAVE NOT made the news…they don’t want people to go into panic mode. There have been a couple of people killed…I saw the coroner picking one of the guys up…there have been other acts of violence such as assault, armed robbery, car jackings, etc…in various parts of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. I know for a fact that a daycare was looted…when I was at the Cathedral, The Bishop called and told everyone to get out immediately due to a riot that was beginning to materialize in downtown. They are not reporting these things for fear that Baton Rouge will fall into anarchy as well…which is understandable…but at the same time, the people need to know so they can protect themselves…it is already bad enough around here considering there are recks every minute because our population doubled literally overnight…now we have a bunch of desperate people out there just wanting to feed their families. All the businesses around where I live, including restraunts, gas stations, etc. all closed around 6-7 PM…with the exception of maybe 1-2 places. I tell you what…it is a really sad scene around here and we need everyones prayers. We also need to pray for all the kind volunteers who are helping at the P-MAC and the River Center…and for all those wonderful Texans (I’m a former Texan 🙂 ) who are so very kind to take us in, in such a time of tragedy. The situation is getting worse in NO as I type this…God Bless you all, Sonny

Sonny, please be assured that you, your family, and all the people of Louisiana are in my prayers.

I’m especially upset over the horrifying situation in your state because I had the pleasure of visiting New Orleans some years ago for a convention of the National Right to Life Committee.

Please keep updating us with your posts.

OMG, someone MUST get in there and save the Bishop, Priest and most especially the Seminarians, they are the future of our Church!!!

Has anyone heard anything new about them, are they alright???

While I fully appreciate dumspirospero’s incredible first-hand knowledge of what is happening in his area, we need to take an extra measure of caution here.

There is some apparent truth in this thread
Fights and gunshots break out as New Orleans slips toward anarchy

And there are also parts that are yet to be substantiated: False rumors circulating of Baton Rouge trouble

I’m going to close this thread and ask members to split it by taking the above news stories (or any published news report) and start news threads as they deem fit.

Dedicated prayer threads are welcome too, as always.
