My aunt was gang raped by 8 teenage boys when she was 12. Due to cultural differences and a fear that the father would kill the boys, the siblings did not tell anyone. She did not receive any help or counseling and has since lived a life of extreme pain.
Now at almost 50, she is an alcoholic and a drug addict. She has always been an alcoholic and a drug addict. She uses them to escape from the pain. I have witnessed her flashbacks and body memories and it is just heartbreaking. She looks like a little girl, she howls with the most primal cries and punches herself over and over again in her crotch.
She had ANOTHER breakdown at work this morning. She works at a hospital. They called her sister and took her home claiming she was incoherant and sounded like she was demon possessed. They took her home and dropped her off ALONE. This is a woman with a history of many suicide attempts! I am furious about this.
I am asking for prayer because she is so tired of living. Tired of the pain. She does not reach out to God because deep inside she feels tainted and infected.
I am asking for prayer for her family members who have endured many years of watching someone they love suffer in horrible ways. I am asking prayer for her two teenage children, who less than a year ago, their father was murdered.
I am asking for justice, because though these boys were left to live their life as usual, my aunt and her family were left with “what could have been” and are STILL reaping the repercussions of that fateful night almost 40 yrs. ago.
My aunt is one of the MOST beautiful people I know. She has a heart of gold, and just doesn’t know how beautiful she is.
We will all be devastated if she takes her life, but a part of me wonders if she will finally be at peace and in the loving arms of God. Her every living moment is filled with pain, and she is just tired.
