I was just reading what our Office of Worship sent to me about Purfication. Yes, it does say that it is to be done by the Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and/or instituted acolytes. But here’s the thing, after communion is over the Secred Vessels can be taken to the sacristy and sacristans, which can be EMHC, may pour water from one vessel to another until they get to the last one. The vessels that this has been done to may be washed as usual leaving only that last vessel that still has the Purification water and remains of Christ’s Blood in it, TO BE CONSUMED BY AN ORDINARY MINISTER OF HOLY COMMUNION !!!
This seems outlandish to me, really dumbing down what is supposed to be a Roman Rite of Ritual Purification, and is to conclude the Ritual of the Sacred Mysteries, The Mass
Things like this is why there is a lost reverance toward the Holy Eucharist and the Mass in general. If this is to be a Ritual of importance, DO IT IN THE SACRISTY WHERE NO ONE CAN SEE IT AND UNDERSTAND ITS IMPORTANCE.
In most Catholic churches, including my own, they have done away with the Chalice Vail.
