Have you ever seen them used together at a Mass?
If so, were altar boys handling patens as well?

Correct.
Do you mean kneeling at the Altar rail and receiving communion from an EMHC.
Our parish uses the Communion rails, and only very rarely uses EMHC’s; and even those are the seminarians from the parish when they are home for the summer, or a Chaldean Sub-Deacon who is in our parish.I have not seen the use of EMHCs where a Communion rail is used; primarily because in those places Communion under both species is not given. And the problem with that is that it is all too easy to knock one’s elbows into the rail while receiving from the Cup.
I have never seen and it does not seem functional from a simple logistic point of view. Usually you have a couple of set of rails and the priests move along them while the faithfuls kneel down.Have you ever seen them used together at a Mass?

I do not see why EMHC cannot be used with people kneeling or standing at communion rails when they are needed.Have you ever seen them used together at a Mass?
